Sebens was born in 1961 and studied art at Minerva Academy in Groningen (NL).

Although Sebens paints an occasional landscape or portrait he specializes in still lifes. His work is marked by fine brush strokes and attention to detail. His objects are chosen and arranged with great care, and there is nothing random in his compositions. Colour is extremely important to Sebens, and he uses it with richness and sensitivity.

In recent years he has gained growing recognition in the Netherlands as a realistic painter.
