Ingrid Dingjan has studied at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten and the Vrije Academie in The Hague. Dingjan is a specialist in maritime paintings, many of which are commissioned by shipyards. Her grandfather was a commercial skipper on the inland waters of the Netherlands, and she grew up near a harbour where she grew to love her subject matter. Dingjan works in her studio, using mainly water-colour and acrylic paint. Hers is not a photographic or technical likeness of ships but a portayal of their relationship to the dynamics of wind and water.
