A Portrait of, is the name of a series of monograms by Art Revisited. Filled with
reproductions of paintings and accompanied by relevant text and illustrations that combine to give
us insight into the life and work of an artist.
Every individual is unique, and so is every artist. Jip Wijngaarden is even more unique than most. Many people know her from the days when she played Anne Frank, or from her subsequent film roles.
Eventually she returned to her first love:
Pictorial art. Her motto must surely be: ‘Follow your heart’.
In this book she writes: “I closed the book on acting, stopped taking on acting roles and learnt to become myself. Perhaps I should say that that’s the route I endeavour to take, as diligently as possible…” Her decisions are made according
to her feelings rather that according to strategy.
Awraham Soetendorp, Jeroen Krabbé and Eppo Bruins have, each in their own way and from their own perspective, lent their hand to complete this portrait of Jip Wijngaarden.
